Do You Really Know? is a first-person narrative exploration game that reveals the often-invisible challenges faced by university students with learning differences and mental health conditions. Players move through liminal campus corridors, shadowed spaces filled with cluttered posters, confusing directions, and NPCs who offer either mixed messages or genuinely helpful guidance. These elements are designed to simulate cognitive overload, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of not knowing what matters or where to go next.

As players interact with their surroundings, they gradually learn and apply simple organisation and coping strategies that reduce on-screen clutter, clarify pathways, and restore a sense of control. The space becomes warmer, signage becomes clearer, and the noise quietens, demonstrating how small, thoughtful design choices in teaching and communication can dramatically improve a student’s ability to succeed.

Developed as a short, focused horizontal slice, the game aims not to diagnose or “fix” anyone, but to foster empathy. By letting players feel the impact of vague instructions, contradictory advice, or overloaded expectations, Do You Really Know? encourages teaching staff to reflect on their everyday practice, and on the real students who often struggle silently behind the scenes.
